The Best Dog I Ever Knew

The Best Dog I Ever Knew

His name was ‘Easy.’   I raised his Mother, ‘Yikes,’ from a puppy.  She was a gift from a neighbor.  After my husband died, he felt I needed protection and company.  I named her Yikes because when anyone saw her they would say, “Yikes.”  Actually it was his suggestion when I asked if the puppy had a name.  The breed is called Bull Arab and the dogs are from Australia and bred primarily for hunting dogs and for protection.  Yikes was black and white spotted and she was a Houdini.  She wanted out, even though my yard composes several acres.  She escaped every chance she could.  I bred her back to another Bull Arab that my neighbor owned.   We thought it might calm her down.  She had eleven puppies.  The Border Patrol purchased some of them and my neighbor sold sold some and we gave some to friends.  My daughter selected a female.  The female’s personality wasn’t sociable so we gave her to a friend.  One of the puppies left was fat and lazy, a male, a real sweetheart.  I gave him to my daughter.  We needed a name.  I suggested ‘Easy.’ The name fit.
