Round Trip From Texas

Round Trip From Texas

This may be the last blog for four weeks. I lam off to China in the morning. Ambush Hill Ranch will be in capable hands with my ranch manager. I’ll try to blog from China but can make no promises. My new book, “Round Trip From Texas,” The Travels and Essays of Sonja Klein, will be published in March or April and the chapter on China is the reason for the trip. I’ll be visiting the cities of Beijing, Luoyang, Xi’an, Wuhan, Changsha, Xiangtan, Kaili, Guiyang and Shanghai as well as cruising the Yangtze River. I hope some of my past blogs will be entertaining in the meantime. I would like to quote from a book by Richard Halliburton. “May you walk out of the prison of necessity – the gulag we all shamble to when distracted by the details of living, when the inner gaze is averted from the true life of the spirit. When you wake again, as you certainly will, walk beneath that ‘arch wherethrough gleams an untraveled world.’ For no matter how one may vilify oneself for not living up to childhood dreams, the truth that will be revealed to all of us when we dies is that we are born adventurers. You might as well own up to it now – there’s a Richard Halliburton in you, whistling as the next adventure forms out of the mist.”
May I take you with me on this road.
