Sonja Klein - Story Teller, Free Spirit, Adventurer

Sonja Rose Klein is a fifth generation Texas, descended from German emigrants, and a graduate of the University of Texas. She is a true life story teller and has won awards for her poetry, essays and short stories.

She is funny, fascinating and interesting and her travel stories are so engrossing you feel like you are on the trip with her. She lives on her ranch, Ambush Hill, in southwest Texas where she raises a few sheep, gardens, and invites guests to visit the canyons and Bullhead Creek in the rugged western Texas Hill Country. She shares her life experiences, what she has learned and what she has failed to learn. Her writings illuminate the human condition including its joys, heartaches and humor.

Her words will bring not only tears but also smiles and laughter as she takes the reader on life’s journey. Her life experiences are many, four husbands, two children, teaching school in rural Louisiana, working as a scientific editor at NASA in the 60’s, real estate management, property tax consultant, owner of a Honda and Yamaha motorcycle dealership, and small time sheep ranching in southwest Texas, and now host at her ranch to visitors through Homeaway/Vacation Rentals by Owners.

Sonja is currently raising and home-schooling her 13-year-old grandson whose mother, her daughter Molly, was killed tragically. Her battle with cancer is detailed in a daily journal, while she beautifully describes the roller coaster ride that comes with living life to the fullest. Her books are thought provoking as well as entertaining. She has been described as a bad ass woman.

“A DEVINE read! Once you pick it up, you won't want to put it down. Adventurous, exciting, clever, enlightening, real life and more. You will feel as if Ms Klein is sitting in your living room sharing her informative stories in person.“

Bernie Nelson

“Sonja's book includes penetrating insight about her journeys to the Middle East, South America, Alaska, Asia's Silk Road, and several other countries. In no way does the book read like a travel guide. She exposes the heart of each country visited, and reveals facts about their religion, human rights, social consciousness, beauty and more.
