Adopt a Child
I loved the movie with Jack Nicholson, “About Schmidt,” especially the child he adopted and after viewing it for the second or third time, I saw an ad for Child Fund. After checking the credentials, reviews and credibilty of the organization, I decided to adopt some children. I went online to select my children and since I would be paying by check and not by credit card I could not choose my children or adopt more than two. Only two were allowed until six months passed and they were assured of my ability to pay. I asked for one from Cambodia and one from Bolivia, planning on later adopting a Latin from the southern United States and a native American. After all, I believe in taking care of our own as well as the rest of the world. I now write my two girls and have received letters from them. I think it’s pretty neat. And the funny thing is that when I go to the post office 20 miles away in the town of Barksdale, Texas, population 80, the postmistress tells me that she has two adopted children also. When I went to Uvalde to have my teeth cleaned the dental technician admitted to having two also. Making a difference is important. Life is about people, not things.
